Chinatown 2023
In partnership with the Chinatown and Foundation and GoGivers Foundation, YFAR returned to Vancouver’s historic Chinatown and the Downtown Eastside to engage over 200+ youth leaders.
Dim Sum Luncheon
YFAR returned to Light Up Chinatown in 2023 with the Chinatown Dim Sum and Distribution, providing youth with the opportunity connect with other like-minded leaders to discuss the cultural importance and the revitalization of Vancouver’s historic Chinatown. The discussions culminated in a wider, room-wide discussion where groups shared their personal ideas and exploration of what equitable representation means.
Students also had the opportunity to contribute to YFAR’s “Past, Present, and Future” Tree with their own hand-written statements, representing our unified efforts to achieve an inclusive future.
Historic Scavenger Hunt
Alongside the Dim Sum Luncheon, YFAR also hosted a historic scavenger hunt. At four different locations within Chinatown, tourists and locals learned more about Chinese-Canadian history through interactive trivia games.
